Speaking to reporters on the last day of CAEXPO today, the trade promotion agency’s China and East Asia director Khairul Annuar Abdul Halim said this year’s sales value had surpassed its initial target of RM640 million and believed the record amount would see further increase after today's event.
A total of seven Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth about RM31.71 million were signed between Malaysian companies and Chinese importers involving various products including durian, healthcare and baby products.
“The positive sales results reported by Malaysian companies (during CAEXPO) showed the high potential and acceptance of Malaysian products in the market such as durian-based products, Malaysian cuisine paste, coffee, cookies, baby items and toothpaste,” he said.
Food and beverages made a strong impact in this year’s expo by outperforming the health and wellness clusters with a sales value of RM357.77 million compared to RM218.91 million registered in CAEXPO 2018.
Health and wellness cluster managed to record sales value of RM131.23 million followed by lifestyle (RM125.60 million) and services (RM0.05 million).
