China's telecoms regulator says 6G is still in exploration stage
The construction of 5G and 6G is a global effort and research progress in China and other countries is similar for now and it is still in the exploratory stage, Wen Ku, a spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, said on Monday.
Wen Ku said that 5G has just begun to develop and there is still much work to do. 5G work must be done well, and 6G work must be started. But whether it is 5G or 6G, this work is global, and it is not yet time to show results.
Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, added that China has an organization called IMT-2020, which has now become IMT-2030.
It is mainly based on the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, which organizes resources from all aspects of the world to work together on the research of next-generation standards.
There are three standards in the 3G era, two global standards in the 4G era, and the global standards are unified in the 5G era, making the benefits of global unified standards evident. We must cherish the hard-won achievements, he said.
Miao Wei said that in the 6G era, we must also work to promote unified global standards. In the process, we must adhere to the road of open cooperation and never close our doors to study Chinese standards by ourselves.
